The aim of the Electronics and Communication Department (ECE) at YITS is offer training and facilities for a scientific and technical research capabilities in the design, development, manufacturing of electronic devices and systems used in various applications ranging from household appliances to most sophisticated satellite transponders. The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering is well –equipped with all major laboratories such as Digital, Microwave, Semi-Conductor, Circuit theory, instrumentation, Micro-processors, Integrated Electronics, Analog Electronic, Satellite lab, Mutlimedia lab etc.
To groom the students to achieve holistic development and make them successful engineers to face worldly challenges.

The immense strength of the ECE department lies in its teaching faculty who are prepared readily to adapt to the requirements of the students. Students are encouraged to participate in various Co and Extracurricular activities through Department IEEE Student Chapter, Student Association SPACE. Professors also inculcate the research culture among the student’s through funded research projects, innovative designing of the Electronic Circuits and publishing of the papers in reputed journals.
The Electronics and Communication Engineering Department has well equipped laboratories as per NBA and AICTE norms with all the facilities needed for cutting edge technology. The laboratories are continuously improved and updated to achieve excellent students’ satisfaction in providing high end skilled training and development on emerging technologies.
ECE Department Staff
ELECTRONIC DEVICES AND CIRCUITS LABORATORY
Electronic devices and circuits laboratory aims to provide students with fundamental concepts of Electron Devices for lab experience. Students study BJT, FET and V-I characteristics of diodes and also the operation of rectifiers. This EDC lab provides the students with basic components and electronic equipment. In this lab, the students gain the knowledge of assembling components on BreadBoard to form a circuit This lab lays the practical foundation essential for the student in the field of electronics. It also encourages students to develop a keen interest towards electronics engineering and to develop small projects based on their learning.
COMMUNICATIONS LABORATORY I
The ECE communications lab offer the students, a laboratory experience in analog and digital communications systems. In Analog communications, the concepts of all types of modulation techniques like PPM, PWM, AM, FM, PAM and their respective demodulations are studied. In addition to this, MATLAB and Simulink experiments are also performed to verify the above modulation techniques and visualize the outputs.
On the other hand, Digital communications laboratory of ECE deals with the concepts of baseband digital modulation techniques such as PCM, DPCM & DM and pass band techniques like PSK, FSK & DPSK. The laboratory also hosts advanced equipment such as Spectrum Analyzer, Digital Storage Oscilloscopes and experimental kits to verify error control techniques like Hamming codes, CRC and convolution encoder and decoder.
IC APPLICATIONS LABORATORY
The main motto of this lab is to teach the linear and non-linear applications of operational amplifiers . With the help of ICs the circuit design becomes very simple. Students are made familiar with theory and applications of various ICS and 555 timers. Students design combinational logic circuits using digital ICs and demonstrate their knowledge by designing analog circuits and digital circuits.
MICROPROCESSORS AND MICROCONTROLLERS LABORATORY
The Microprocessor and Microcontroller lab of ECE in YITS has been equipped with highly advanced Microprocessor and Microcontroller boards. In this lab the student will come across various experiments where they can improve their programming skills. The lab provides in-depth knowledge and explanation on Assembly Language Programming and make the students familiar with writing Assembly language program son 8086 Microprocessor. The lab will inherit knowledge on tools such as TASM, KEIL and will implement many experiment programs such as Arithmetic, logical, string and BIOS programming in different perspectives. In this lab, the students are also introduced to various interfacing hardware kits such as 8279, 8255, 8051, 8259 etc. In the lab, they can perform experiments with various interfacing modules and communication protocol interfaces.
VLSI Laboratory in YITS is one of the most sophisticated laboratories in the ECE department which is associated with the design and simulation of semiconductor devices, circuits & system. Tanner SPICE and MODELSIM are the key software work tools, installed in 30 computer systems and FPGA trainer kits are main hardware setups.
SIGNAL PROCESSING LABORATORY
This signal processing laboratory aims at practical experience with the simulation and development of basic signal processing algorithms, using standardized environments such as MATLAB, Code Composer Studio and general-purpose DSP development kits. Experiments cover fundamental concepts of digital signal processing like signal generation, convolution, FIR, IIR digital filter design and implementation algorithms, and calculation of power spectral density. Digital signal processing laboratory helps the students to learn, analyze and design techniques that give core knowledge for DSP engineers. The laboratory aims at supporting the teaching and research activities in the area of DSP.
EMBEDDED SYSTEMS LABORATORY
It enables the students to program, simulate and test the 8085, 8051, PIC 18 and ARM processor based circuits and their interfaces. It enable the students to program various devices using FLOWCODE, KIEL , MPLAB , XILINX ISE software and provide a platform for the students to do multidisciplinary projects.
Instrumentation Laboratory is intended to provide the students some in-depth knowledge about the various measurement and control techniques. This lab is equipped with a set of electronic instruments, trainer kits, CRO, function generator along with various discrete components.
ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY LAB
The basic knowledge of Human Anatomy and Physiology is imparted as per the course requirement through the laboratory experiments. Various blood and urine experiments are performed in the well-equipped Human Anatomy and Physiology laboratory. This lab also contains optical Microscopes, various models and charts regarding the major organ systems of the human body.
BIOMEDICAL INSTRUMENTATION LAB
Biomedical Instrumentation lab provides a platform for students and research scholars to explore on the various equipment and software tools for the design and analysis of analog circuits. The lab also equips TINA circuit design and simulation software which is a powerful yet affordable circuit simulator and PCB design software package for analyzing, designing, and real time testing of analog, digital, HDL, MCU, and mixed electronic circuits and their PCB layouts
ADVANCED RF, MICROWAVE AND WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS LAB (COE)
Advanced RF, Microwave and wireless communication Laboratory in YITS is a specialized laboratory which deals with the devices that are designed to operate in the radio frequency spectrum. Moreover wave propagation, transmission and reception of microwave signals, waveguides etc are major fields of learning in this laboratory.
